The Hub Turns 1!
The Hub Bengaluru was launched on December 16, 2016 purely as an experiment exploring the potential of co-living spaces in an urban city like Bangalore. Converted from a traditional hotel under the vision and leadership of our founder, Azaan Feroz Sait, little did we know that it would grow into a massive community space today! Over 150 members strong and counting; We are proud to say that we are still in beta, since this approach has helped us learn, unlearn, improve & evolve!
As a community The Hub has had a high level of social interaction and collaboration between people from diverse backgrounds. Our living and work spaces are designed to encourage the flow of ideas between our members. This has created a strong community-based sharing culture which is both motivational and inspirational.
In this positive environment, members also benefit from exposure to a wide range of complementary member experiences. For example, in the first year we have hosted over 150 events that not only bring the community together but it has also helped us understand our members better. A perfect example of this is the monthly Community Huddle, an in-house party exclusive for Hubbers and their friends and family. We set up an an open bar and organize community building games, sumptuous food, music jams for the talented folks to enthrall the members and a whole lot more! For the first time, we opened up the last Huddle to the public to experiment and see if we can attract new faces to The Hub and show them what we are and contribute to what we aspire to be. The response blew us away- we had over 45 complete strangers that signed up and attended our event without any marketing!
September 2017 was a turning point at The Hub, after a successful launch in the co-living space, we decided to go a notch higher and delved into the hyped co-working space- with our own spin of course! We converted the Safina Hotel lobby into our flexible co-working area. Why flexible? This space is also used for cool community related events, you will have to see it to believe. We’ll get to the events part in a bit! ;)
With 7 startups incubating in-house, we were sold out of private pods and free floater spaces in less than a week. We are still the most creative and affordable space in town, we’re open to bets!
Last but not least, what really completes The Hub is our four very cool events spaces! Two sprawling, gorgeous open terrace spaces and two indoor. A total of 30,000 sqft combined allow us to play host to all kinds of events, from private parties to flea markets, open mic nights & full fledged music festivals.
We marked our first anniversary by co-hosting Quirk Market 2017, a project to support the creators of Bangalore while introducing the participants skill themselves through a string of interesting workshops! There were multiple stalls, hep folks, music performances, food that included a mouth watering dosa stall that served unlimited dosas for just Rs 99 and a variety of live performances that included a fire breather!
This completes The Hub puzzle and we swear by our LIVE-WORK-&-PLAY lifestyle!
