PET-FRIENDLY PROPERTIES ARE THE NEW NORM. FIND OUT HOW WE ARE DISRUPTING RESTRICTIONS ON RENTERS

Property managers are usually apprehensive about the thought of renting their spaces to pet-owning tenants. They consider pets to be a nuisance and do not want renters with pets at their properties. However, we at The Hub Bengaluru believe that the rental space owners need to realise the true potential of pet-friendly properties and how they can benefit from them.

Going totally pet-friendly: There are millions of pet owners out there who need their personal space on rent. Allowing pets is one of the pivotal measures you can take in order to increase your tenant applications. According to an Apartments.com survey, nearly 70% of renters are pet owners. By shutting your door on those individuals, you are cutting out a large chunk of the pool of potential tenants.

Securing quality renters: Changing times have updated human conception of pets as well. They are more of companions than just animals. Reports state that pet owners are more efficient than the rest when it comes to earning money. When renters have pets, they provide them with food, supplies and regular veterinarian check-ups. This assures the property owners of financially stable tenants as well as responsible people who you can rely on to be good tenants.

Hitting for the long-term: Another benefit from the pet-owning tenants is longer occupancy. Renters with pets do not tend to move around a lot, thereby guaranteeing you of a steady revenue collection. Due to a huge deficiency in pet-friendly renting spaces, tenants are mostly willing to offer high deposit money. It is normal to expect a much higher rent from your pet- friendly tenant than other regular tenants. Those rentals who do not allow pets have a vacancy average of 14%. This average drops down to 10% for the pet-friendly rental properties. So by allowing pets, you are eliminating the prospects of empty rooms!

Bringing similar tenants: The demand for pet-friendly rentals is always high. As soon as you get one tenant with pets, you start flirting with the idea of more tenants with the same status. Pet owners usually are in very good contact with their fellow pet-loving friends. Your tenant can spread the word for you and the next thing you know, your place is stacked up with several pet-owning renters.

Humans can benefit exceedingly by having pets around them. Many consider pets as an integral part of their family. Unfortunately, most landlords do not share this mentality. The theory behind this decision is to avoid the possibility of pets creating a mess in their places. This is absolutely irrelevant when the probability of a newborn infant creating a mess is much higher than a well-trained pup. As digital nomads, today’s millennials are intensely ambitious in life and are in constant pursuit of their personal and career goals. But while this tiring process is ever-running in the back of their mind, they need more exposure to personal experiences. Most of the tenants today are young working professionals, staying miles apart from their family due to professional commitments. This affects their morale levels severely. A comprehensive study clearly states that pets can help us in everything from lowering blood pressure to reducing anxiety. While it is not always very easy to make new friends right after shifting to a new environment, having a pet can surely lift your spirits up.

The Hub Bengaluru has become a well-known center for pet friendly living in the city, and their own in-house dogs and guinea pigs live a happy and comfortable life, with plenty of space to run around as well as the right facilities and supplies that are needed to take care of them.

People at The Hub believe immensely in their service to the residents, pet owner or not. They consider the welfare of their residents (and pets) supremely important and realize the full value of co-living and how flexible it can be.

Last Sunday, The Hub Bengaluru collaborated with Fluffynut Foundation- an animal welfare NGO, to host their second Pet Adoption Drive on their gorgeous rooftop space!

Over 300 people from The community came down to support, play, cuddle, and even adopted a large number of furry friends.
